The big question
Wait, Why Is a School Running a Dental Camp?
Great question. We asked ourselves the same thing. And then we remembered: children spend more waking hours at school than anywhere else. So if we care about the whole child, and at Little Lumos we truly do, then dental health is absolutely part of that picture.
At Little Lumos, we follow the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education. In simple words: we believe every child is born curious, capable, and full of potential. Our job isn't to pour knowledge into them. It's to create environments and experiences that help them discover, question, and grow.
The scary truth
Okay, But How Bad Is It Really?
We won't sugarcoat it. Ironically, sugar is exactly the problem.
60%
of kids get cavities before age 5
1 in 4
children have untreated dental decay
51M
school hours lost yearly to toothaches
Fun (not-so-fun) Fact
Tooth decay is the most common childhood disease in India, more common than asthma, and way more annoying at 3 AM. The reassuring part? It's almost 100% preventable with the right habits and early checkups. Which is exactly why we're stepping in and handling this one for you.The Reggio Emilia lens
How Our Teaching Philosophy Shapes This Camp
This isn't just a checkup queue. We've designed the entire experience around our Reggio Emilia principles. Click each one to learn more:
Kids get to ask the dentist real questions. Why do teeth fall out? What does plaque actually look like under a magnifying glass? Can a tooth grow back? In the Reggio approach, curiosity is treated as intelligence, not as an interruption. Our dentist is briefed to answer every question, no matter how strange.

5 Things to Tell Your Child Before the Camp
Tell them: the dentist looks at teeth like a superhero looking for clues. Their tools? A tiny light and a little mirror. That's it. Makes it sound way cooler than it actually is, and that's perfectly fine.
